Description

Delight in these festive Christmas Monster Cookies, loaded with creamy peanut butter, oats, chocolate chips, and colorful holiday M&M's. Perfect for celebrating the season with a sweet, chewy treat that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Creamy Peanut Butter (like Skippy's or Jif)
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 3/4 cup Rolled Oats
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup Red and Green Holiday M&M's (divided)
  • 3/4 cup Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  1. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and sugar for 4 minutes or until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  2. Add Peanut Butter, Egg, and Vanilla: Beat in the creamy peanut butter, large egg, and vanilla extract for 1 minute until well combined.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: Fold in the rolled oats, flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir just until the dry ingredients are incorporated into the wet mixture.
  4. Mix in Chocolate Chips and M&M's: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and 3/4 cup of red and green holiday M&M's, reserving 1/4 cup to add later.
  5. Chill Dough: Tightly wrap the cookie dough and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm up.
  6. Preheat Oven: Once chilled, preheat the oven to 365 degrees Fahrenheit.
  7. Scoop Dough onto Baking Sheet: Using a spoon or cookie scoop, place dough onto a light-colored baking sheet, spacing the cookies at least two inches apart.
  8. Bake Cookies: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10 minutes until edges are set and tops look slightly cracked.
  9. Add Remaining M&M's: Immediately after removing from the oven, lightly press the reserved 1/4 cup of M&M's onto the tops of the cookies for decoration.
  10. Cool Cookies: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 to 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack or serving.

Notes

  • Variations and Substitutions: You can use quick oats instead of rolled oats for a different texture.
  • Chocolate Chips: Semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips work well depending on your preference.
  • Storage: Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
  • Freezing: These cookies freeze well. Place in a large gallon-sized Ziploc bag and freeze for up to two months.
