Description

Christmas Puppy Chow is a festive, sweet snack mix featuring chocolate, peanut butter, and crunchy cereal coated in powdered sugar, perfect for holiday gatherings and easy to make in minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Mixture

  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ⅓ cup butter
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Cereal Mix

  • 9 cups rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups confectioners sugar

Toppings

  • 1 cup holiday M&M’s

Instructions

  1. Heat Chocolate and Peanut Butter: Add the chocolate chips and peanut butter to a large, microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and melted.
  2. Add Butter and Vanilla: Stir in melted butter and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  3. Coat Cereal: Add the Chex cereal to the bowl and gently toss to coat evenly without breaking the pieces.
  4. Coat with Sugar: Spoon the coated cereal into a large zip-top bag. Add the confectioners sugar, seal the bag, and gently shake to thoroughly coat the cereal. Use multiple bags if necessary.
  5. Add M&M’s and Serve: Pour the coated cereal into a bowl, add holiday M&M’s, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Not for dogs, only humans!
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerate for up to one week.
  • Best enjoyed chilled straight from the fridge for extra crunch.
  • Use a sturdy zip-top bag to avoid tearing when shaking the mixture.
  • You can substitute holiday M&M’s with other festive candies or mini chocolate chips.
