- 1 star anise
Instructions
- Boil water: Pour ½ cup of boiling water into a mug to begin warming the base of your hot toddy.
- Add ingredients: Stir in 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice, 4 tablespoons whiskey or bourbon, 2-3 drops of aromatic bitters, and 2-3 teaspoons honey. Mix until the honey is fully dissolved.
- Prepare garnish: Poke whole cloves into the peel of a thick lemon slice to infuse extra aroma and flavor.

Notes
- Adjust honey amounts to taste based on desired sweetness.
- Use bourbon instead of whiskey for a slightly sweeter flavor profile.
- Cloves, cinnamon sticks, and star anise are optional but add great aroma and warmth.
- For a non-alcoholic version, substitute whiskey with warm apple cider.
- Serve in a heatproof glass or mug to keep the drink warm longer.
