Ingredients
Scale
Egg Mixture
- 5 large eggs
- ½ medium red bell pepper, chopped
- ½ medium green bell pepper, chopped
- ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ¼ teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
Other Ingredients
- 8 slices bacon, fried
- 8 ounce crescent rolls (refrigerated, 1 can)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 large egg (for egg wash, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375℉ to ensure it’s ready for baking the breakfast ring.
- Cook Eggs and Peppers: In a bowl, beat the 5 eggs with chopped red and green bell peppers, salt, and pepper. Cook the mixture in a skillet until scrambled and just set, using the same skillet you fried the bacon in after draining the fat.
- Prepare Crescent Rolls: Lay out the crescent rolls on a parchment paper on a baking sheet arranged in a star shape as shown in the pictures.
- Assemble Filling: Place one slice of cooked bacon on each crescent roll triangle. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese evenly around the ring, then add the scrambled eggs, and top with the remaining cheese.
- Fold Crescents: Carefully fold the crescent roll edges over the filling towards the center to enclose the ingredients. Optionally, brush the ring with a beaten egg wash to achieve a golden brown color when baked.
- Bake: Transfer the parchment paper with the assembled ring onto a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the crescent dough is cooked through and golden brown.
- Garnish and Serve: Optionally garnish with fresh parsley and serve the breakfast ring warm for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Keep the dough cold until just before assembling for easier handling and better texture.
- Cook bacon and peppers fully before assembling to avoid soggy dough.
- Scramble eggs only until they are softly set, as they will finish cooking in the oven.
- Customize your fillings with different cheeses or cooked vegetables but avoid overfilling to ensure even baking.
- You can assemble the ring ahead of time, refrigerate tightly covered, and bake fresh in the morning for convenience.
- Serve the ring warm to enjoy the flaky crescent dough and melty cheese at their best.
