Description

Fiesta Fudge Cookies are rich, chocolatey treats with a sweet and slightly spicy twist from ground cinnamon, topped with iconic Hershey's Hugs candies. These soft, chewy cookies are easy to make, perfect for festive occasions or a delightful homemade indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Base

  • ⅓ cup butter
  • 6 oz unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 lb 1.5 oz sugar cookie mix
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Topping

  • 40 Hershey Hugs unwrapped

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. Set aside while you prepare the dough.
  2. Melt Butter and Chocolate In a large microwavable bowl, microwave the butter and unsweetened chocolate for 1 minute. Stir the mixture, then microwave for an additional 1 minute or until the butter is fully melted and the chocolate mixture is smooth.
  3. Add Condensed Milk Stir the 14 oz sweetened condensed milk into the melted chocolate and butter mixture until fully combined.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients Stir the sugar cookie mix and ground cinnamon into the chocolate mixture until the dough is well blended.
  5. Scoop Dough Using a medium cookie scoop, portion approximately 1 tablespoon of dough per cookie. Place each dough ball about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  6. Bake Cookies Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 7 minutes or until the edges lose their shiny appearance. Do not overbake to maintain a soft texture.
  7. Add Candy Topping Immediately after removing the cookies from the oven, press one Hershey’s Hug candy into the center of each cookie with the point side up.
  8. Cool on Sheets Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes. Tap each cookie lightly on the edge to help the candy spread slightly on top.
  9. Cool Completely Transfer the cookies off the baking sheets and let them cool completely before serving or storing.

Notes

  • Hershey’s Hugs are striped chocolates with white creme hugged by milk chocolate, perfect for topping these cookies.
  • A 12 oz bag contains approximately 70 Hugs, enough for about 40 cookies.
  • Try fun variations by substituting Hershey’s Hugs with Hot Cocoa Kisses, Peppermint Bark Bells, Mint Truffles, or Candy Cane Mint Chocolates.
  • Store cookies covered at room temperature to maintain freshness.
  • This recipe is adapted from Betty Crocker’s Fiesta Fudge Cookies.
