Description
Tender, flavorful steak bites seasoned with garlic, butter, and fresh herbs. This quick and easy weeknight dinner comes together in just 20 minutes and can be adapted to Paleo, Whole30, or dairy-free diets by using ghee instead of butter.
Ingredients
Scale
Steak Bites
- 2 pounds steak, cut into small bite size pieces
- 1/2 tablespoon avocado oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Sauce and Garnish
- 2 tablespoons butter or ghee
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- Green onion, for garnish
Instructions
- Season the steak bites: In a medium bowl, combine the steak pieces with salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Stir well to ensure all pieces are evenly coated with the seasoning.
- Cook the steak: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the avocado oil. Place the steak bites in a single layer in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally until the steak is nicely browned. Depending on your pan size, cook in batches to avoid overcrowding. Once browned, remove the steak bites from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the garlic butter sauce: Remove any excess moisture from the skillet, then add the butter or ghee. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute, stirring constantly to prevent burning and to infuse the butter with garlic flavor.
- Combine steak and sauce: Return the cooked steak bites to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, stirring gently to coat them thoroughly in the garlic butter sauce.
- Finish and serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Stir in the chopped parsley and garnish with sliced green onions. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with ghee or a plant-based butter alternative.
- To keep it Paleo or Whole30 compliant, ensure the steak and seasonings contain no additives and use ghee instead of butter.
- Do not overcrowd the pan to allow proper browning and prevent steaming the steak bites.
- Let the steak rest a few minutes after cooking for juicier bites if desired.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to your heat preference or omit for a milder dish.
