Description

Celebrate the holidays with these festive and chewy Holiday Rice Krispie Treats loaded with mini marshmallows, colorful M&M's, and sprinkles, all drizzled with creamy white chocolate. These treats are easy to make and perfect for sharing during the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 6 Tablespoons salted butter
  • 16 ounces mini marshmallows, divided
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 6 cups rice krispies cereal
  • 1 ¼ cup holiday M&M's, divided
  • ¼ cup holiday sprinkles
  • 5 ounces Ghirardelli white chocolate melting wafers, melted (1/2 bag)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pan: Line a 9-inch square baking dish with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add all but 1 cup of the mini marshmallows. Reduce heat to low and stir continuously until the marshmallows are fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Add Vanilla and Mix Cereal: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Add the rice krispies cereal and the remaining 1 cup of mini marshmallows. Gently fold everything together until well combined.
  4. Incorporate M&M's and Sprinkles: Fold in 1 cup of the holiday M&M's and all of the holiday sprinkles evenly through the mixture.
  5. Transfer and Set: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Gently press out the mixture using your fingertips until evenly spread.
  6. Add Toppings: Drizzle the melted white chocolate wafers over the top of the treats. Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup of holiday M&M's and optionally add a pinch of extra sprinkles for decoration.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the treats to set for 1 hour at room temperature before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

  • Use any variety of holiday M&M’s you like; milk chocolate or peanut butter M&M’s work well, though peanut M&M’s may be crunchier.
  • Ensure your marshmallows and rice krispies cereal are fresh for soft, tasty treats.
  • I recommend using jimmies sprinkles for softness and visual appeal; quins (flat circle sprinkles) are also an option. Avoid nonpareils as they might not blend well.
  • You can swap out holiday candy and sprinkles for any holiday theme or preference.
  • Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
  • Treats can be frozen for up to 3 months; thaw before serving.
