Ingredients
Scale
Honey Ginger Simple Syrup
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 cup water
- 1 medium piece fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
Lemonade
- 1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (preferably Meyer lemons)
- 4 cups water
- Fresh mint leaves
Instructions
- Make the honey ginger syrup: In a small pot or tea kettle, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in the honey and sliced ginger. Let the mixture steep for 20 minutes to infuse the flavors.
- Prepare the lemonade base: While the syrup is steeping, juice the lemons and pour the juice into a large pitcher. Add 4 cups of water and ice to the pitcher.
- Combine syrup and lemonade: After steeping, strain out the ginger pieces and pour the honey ginger syrup into the pitcher with lemon juice and water. Stir well to combine.
- Add mint and serve: Add fresh mint leaves to the lemonade. Refrigerate to chill or serve immediately over ice for a refreshing drink.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey according to your taste.
- Meyer lemons provide a sweeter, less tart flavor; regular lemons can be used as a substitute.
- The honey ginger syrup can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
- For a fizzy version, substitute water with sparkling water.
- Fresh mint leaves enhance the aroma and add a cool undertone but can be omitted if unavailable.
