Description

This Easy Layered Taco Bake is a delicious and convenient dish featuring seasoned ground beef layered with flour tortillas and melted Mexican cheese, baked to perfection. It combines the rich flavors of taco seasoning with creamy salsa con queso for a comforting main course that's perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 3/4 cup water (as called for on back of seasoning packet)
  • 1/2 cup salsa con queso
  • 3 (8-inch) flour tortillas (soft taco size)
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend (divided use)

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, brown and crumble 1 pound of ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess grease carefully to avoid sogginess.
  2. Add Seasoning: Stir in 1 packet of taco seasoning and 3/4 cup of water as directed on the seasoning packet. Cook the mixture according to package instructions until the sauce thickens.
  3. Combine with Salsa Con Queso: Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup salsa con queso thoroughly, mixing it well into the seasoned beef.
  4. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly spray an 8-inch round baking pan or springform pan with nonstick cooking spray for easy removal.
  5. Layer the Bake: Place one flour tortilla at the bottom of the prepared pan. Spread about one-third of the seasoned beef mixture evenly over the tortilla. Sprinkle approximately one-third of the shredded Mexican cheese on top. Repeat this layering process two more times, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
  6. Bake: Place the layered dish in the oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the edges appear golden and slightly crispy.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the taco bake to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite toppings such as sour cream, diced tomatoes, or avocado for added flavor and texture.

Notes

  • If salsa con queso is too spicy, substitute with a regular cheese dip to suit your taste.
  • For a crisper bottom layer, you can briefly warm tortillas before layering.
  • Use a springform pan for easier removal and presentation, but any 8-inch round baking dish will work.
  • Customize toppings with sour cream, chopped tomatoes, cilantro, or jalapeños according to preference.
