Description

This refreshing Peach Iced Tea recipe combines the natural sweetness of peaches with brewed tea, enhanced by a homemade peach syrup made from pureed peaches, sugar, and honey. Perfect for cooling down on warm days or serving as a delightful beverage at gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea

  • 5 cups water, divided
  • 1 family size tea bag

Peach Syrup

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup honey
  • 2 cups frozen peaches, thawed and pureed (or 2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced)

For Serving

  • 2 cups frozen peaches (Do not thaw. If using fresh peaches, slice and freeze on parchment lined pan until ready to serve)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a pot. Remove from heat, add the tea bag, and steep for 5 minutes. Pour the brewed tea into a 2-quart pitcher and set aside.
  2. Make the Peach Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, honey, and 1 cup of water. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved. Add the pureed peaches and return to a low boil, then remove from heat and allow it to cool.
  3. Strain the Syrup: Pour the syrup through a mesh sieve held over a bowl. Press on the peach pulp to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the pulp.
  4. Combine Syrup and Tea: Add the peach syrup to the prepared tea gradually, tasting until the desired sweetness is achieved. Typically, 1 to 2 cups of syrup per 4 cups (1 quart) of tea creates a pleasantly sweet taste. For single servings of 8 ounces, add between ¼ to ½ cup syrup.
  5. Serve: Divide the frozen peaches among 4 glasses. Add ice and pour the peach tea over the peaches and ice. Enjoy chilled.
  6. Store: Keep any unused peach syrup refrigerated for future use, and store leftover tea in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Frozen peaches work well and allow you to enjoy this recipe even if fresh peaches are not available.
  • Leftover tea stores well in the refrigerator for several days.
  • If using fresh peaches for serving, slice and freeze them ahead of time to keep the tea cold without diluting the flavor.
