Description

This Spicy Dill Pickle Margarita is a bold and refreshing cocktail featuring tequila, dill pickle brine, and a spicy hot honey rimmed with Tajin. It combines savory, tangy, and spicy flavors perfect for adventurous cocktail lovers.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cocktail

  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1 oz dill pickle brine
  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 1 tbsp hot honey (use to taste)
  • sparkling water, to top
  • mini dill pickles, to garnish

For the Rim

  • Tajin, for the rim
  • honey, to brush glass rim

For the Hot Honey

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s)
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass rim: Brush the rim of your cocktail glass with honey. Pour 1-2 tablespoons of Tajin onto a shallow plate, then dip and roll the glass rim in the Tajin. Shake off any excess and set the glass aside.
  2. Mix the cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, dill pickle brine, Cointreau, lime juice, and hot honey. Add ice and shake vigorously until well chilled.
  3. Serve: Strain the mixture into the prepared glass. Top off with sparkling water to desired fizz and garnish with mini dill pickles.
  4. Make the hot honey: In a small saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes. Heat over low-medium heat for 1-2 minutes, stirring until all spices dissolve. Let cool and store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks at room temperature or longer in the fridge.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of hot honey to control the spiciness of the cocktail.
  • If you cannot find mini dill pickles, slice regular dill pickles into smaller pieces for garnish.
  • The hot honey can be used as a sweet and spicy condiment for other dishes as well.
  • Ensure the cocktail is well chilled before serving for optimal flavor and refreshment.
